The launch ceremony of the "Macau High School Students Research Internship Program," jointly organized by the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Pui Ching Middle School Macau, was successfully held on April 29, 2025. This program aims to build a collaborative bridge between universities and secondary schools, actively respond to the national strategies of invigorating China through Science and Education, and strengthening the country through workforce development, provide students with opportunities to engage in cutting-edge scientific research, and cultivate future scientific talents with international vision for Macao's research endeavors.

Speech by Vice President Jiang Zhihong
The ceremony began with a welcome speech by Chair Prof. Jiang Zhihong, Vice President of MUST. He highlighted that since its founding in 2000, MUST has rapidly developed into Macao's largest and most comprehensive university, consistently ranked among the top 300 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for five consecutive years. Upholding its University Motto, MUST continues to innovate talent cultivation models. In response to the Macao SAR government's call to promote STEM education and nurture diverse talents, the university has partnered with Pui Ching Middle School Macau to extend the " Macau High School Students Research Internship Program," aiming to build a scientific research bridge for Macao high school students passionate about technology. During the internship, students will receive support from MUST's international research teams and first-class laboratory platforms, with mentors fostering their multidisciplinary capabilities. Chair Prof. Jiang Zhihong encouraged students to maintain their curiosity, dare to question, and broaden their thinking. He expressed that this internship experience would empower students' growth, sowing "seeds of scientific research" that could flourish into pillars of innovation, driving technological advancement in Macao and the nation.
Speech by Principal Kou Kam Fai
Principal Kou Kam Fai of Pui Ching Middle School Macau expressed gratitude to MUST professors, experts, and administrative teams for their professional support and dedication. He emphasized the program's significance in aligning with national strategies, bridging universities and secondary schools, facilitating Macao's integration into the Greater Bay Area's technology corridor, and promoting interdisciplinary projects. The program offers students exposure to cutting-edge research, nurturing innovative thinking and practical skills while supporting their pursuit of scientific aspirations. Principal Kou urged students to cherish the opportunity, actively learn from professors, and explore the unknown. He concluded by expressing hope that the program would cultivate more outstanding talents for Macao's scientific research community, contributing to the development of both Macao and the nation.

Following the speeches, Prof. Wong Kam Wai, Assistant Director of the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, and Assistant Prof. Tang Chi Pui, Assistant Director of the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences, detailed the internship program's objectives and content. They introduced the participating research projects from both state key laboratories, explaining each project to help students build a solid foundation for their upcoming internships.
