Traditional Chinese Medicine is an important research area of the Macau University of Science and Technology. After years of unremitting efforts and development, the first State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (Macau University of Science and Technology) was approved by Ministry of Science and Technology of China and was formally established on January 25, 2011. After Thirteen years development, our SKL has significantly improved our technology platforms, reinforced our research teams, has been granted with numbers of research projects and achieved multiple research output which were praised by our society and experts. And launching the Phase 5 proposal in 2023. Here, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the central government, Macau (SAR) government, science experts, and society members for their support and valuable suggestions.
The State Key Laboratory is a vital platform for scientific and technological research. The restructured State Key Laboratory of Mechanism and Quality of Chinese Medicine places greater emphasis on team building and research expansion, operating under an open, interactive, collaborative, and competitive mechanism. In terms of talent recruitment and cultivation, we focus on attracting and nurturing outstanding innovative research talents with interdisciplinary knowledge structures. In research, we emphasize the integration and utilization of high-tech and multidisciplinary research methods, striving for innovation. Regarding external cooperation, we aim to further expand and deepen collaborations with renowned teaching and research institutions both domestically and internationally.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is an outstanding cultural treasure within the Chinese nation. With the advancement of science and technology and the evolution of medical models, the medical and scientific value of TCM is increasingly evident, and its immense development potential has garnered attention from the international scientific and medical communities. The State Key Laboratory of Mechanism and Quality of Chinese Medicine bears the important responsibility of inheriting and promoting TCM scholarship, and serving the development of the TCM cause and the Chinese medicine industry in Macao and the nation. We will uphold the principles of exploration, innovation, rigor, and practicality, closely align with the needs of the nation's scientific and technological development, select prominent and urgent problems in TCM development, and conduct innovative research—particularly in the technologies, methods, and standards of Chinese medicine mechanism and quality, as well as innovative drug research—to contribute to the advancement of national science and technology and the improvement of human health, while also promoting the appropriate economic diversification of Macao.
